Collaborate Cardiologist
I was born and raised in Athens, Greece. I graduated from Athens College with a GPA of 19.000/20.000 and, in 2007, was admitted to the Medical School of Democritus University of Thrace through the national entrance exams. I earned my medical degree with a final GPA of 8.17/10.
Immediately after graduation, I consciously chose to pursue my residency in cardiology in Germany, aiming to train at a major academic center with access to state-of-the-art techniques and the full spectrum of modern cardiovascular medicine. The University Hospital of Münster (Universitätsklinikum Münster – UKM), one of the largest and most respected reference centers in North Rhine-Westphalia, provided me with a comprehensive clinical education across the full range of cardiology – from common conditions such as hypertension and coronary artery disease, to more complex cases such as advanced heart failure, systemic diseases with cardiac involvement, and rare cardiomyopathies.
During my training, I chose to specialize in Cardiovascular Imaging, to which I dedicated the majority of both my clinical and scientific work. In September 2018, I joined the team of Professor Ali Yilmaz, Director of the Herz-MRT-Zentrum Münster, one of the few European centers accredited by the European Society of Cardiology (ESC/EACVI) for advanced cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR), performing over 3,000 CMR studies per year. During this time, I gained full competency in the independent acquisition and interpretation of cardiac MRI, both at rest and under pharmacologic stress using regadenoson.
My involvement in cardiovascular imaging extends to the academic and research field as well. I have presented at European and international cardiology congresses and published in peer-reviewed medical journals. I have also served as an instructor for fellow physicians in specialized cardiac MRI training courses and transthoracic echocardiography workshops under the auspices of the German Cardiac Society (DGK) and the German Society for Ultrasound in Medicine (DEGUM). Additionally, I have participated in undergraduate medical teaching.
In June 2020, I completed my doctoral thesis at the Medical Faculty of the University of Münster, following three years of research.
I hold the highest international certification (Level 3) in cardiac magnetic resonance imaging from the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI), the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR), and the German Cardiac Society (DGK).
Finally, I am the author of a practical handbook on cardiac MRI, aimed at guiding clinical physicians in effectively integrating this modality into their diagnostic and therapeutic decision-making.
